New Year, Same Crew!

As we kick off the New Year, it’s incredible to see how much Broadway Crew has grown in the past year. What started as a liminal space of uncertainty in January 2022 with the COVID spike amidst the post-holiday lull, actually turned into one of our most pivotal years yet. We got to work with so many incredible shows and brands throughout the year!

We climbed our way out of that by working with some smaller app activations and mainstay Broadway shows like Moulin Rouge and Chicago. Once we charged into the summertime, it was full steam ahead!

We started working with Discoasis throughout the summer months, a roller rink venue filled with all the joyful glitz and glam we needed to come out of a dismal winter. Our incredible Events and Experiential Accounts Manager, Lucy, took the reigns and organized wildly successful flyering shifts with Crew members decked out in flashy swag and adorable skates. It was truly something wonderful for all of us to look forward to week after week and acted as an optimistic launchpad for us as we picked up more clients in the latter half of the year.

While we’ve always taken part in activations outside of Comic-Con, this was our first year working one within the space itself, getting tons of eager superhero fans to sign up for the new Marvel Snap! Our Crew absolutely knocked it out of the park with this out-of-this-world activation, achieving a record amount of sign-ups and showcasing some Broadway Crew presence in yet another staple New York City event!

We also had the incredible opportunity to staff the Galien Foundation’s Annual Gala at the American Museum of Natural History. With an ideal mix of our core Crew mainstays and energetic newcomers, this event went incredibly well and lead to a treasured relationship with a wonderful event planning company.

As we got deeper into the fall, we have to shout out Director of Field Ops, Tiffany McCullough, for leading us through our busiest season yet promoting shows at TKTS. Our brilliant Director of Theatrical Accounts, Justin Adams, was instrumental in picking up lots of new clients during one of the most significant surges of new Broadway shows in recent years. With show-stopping new musicals taking Broadway by storm, like & Juliet, Kimberly Akimbo, and Almost Famous, our Crew was out there getting the turnout they deserve! We were also lucky to work with some of the most compelling dramas, such as Ohio State Murders, Between Riverside and Crazy, the Tony-winning revival of Take Me Out, and Death of a Salesman! These critically acclaimed productions were/are all a part of our roster as we charged into the New Year.

We had an otherworldy 2022. With lots of unexpected twists and turns in our journey, we are so grateful to our clients and our Crew for making all of this vital work possible. Broadway Crew looks completely different entering the New Year than it did last January, and we can’t wait to see what adventures 2023 has in store for us!
